We are thrilled to announce that we have finally received our letter from the Navy donating the USS BREMERTON (SSN 698) artifacts to us and the City of Bremerton for the project.  Our May visit to the shipyard to see the boat showed that the artifacts are in need of a good field day, and a lot of preservation followed by painting before we can use them. We have several partners who have agreed to donate their efforts to prepare the USS BREMERTON (SSN 698) artifacts for the monument.  Our partners include Metropolitan Solutions who have taken samples of the sail materials, South Bay Sandblasting who will be removing internal structure and corrosion as well as preparing surfaces, American Scaffold who will be setting up work areas and containment and helping with preservation, Sherwin Williams who is providing all the paint, and IMIA who is helping with preservation, welding the sail back together and coordinating the work of the other partners.  For the past couple of months, we have been searching for a site to do the work to prepare the artifacts and store them until we are ready to install them in the monument.  We have identified several potential locations and hope to finalize the site in the next month which would allow us to receive the artifacts from the Navy this fall and start preserving them.

Our architect, David Fergus and Rice Fergus Miller Architects are continuing to refine the monument design and Art Anderson Engineering continues to work on the engineering design for the project.  We have started to meet with potential partners to help us build the park infrastructure such as concrete, electrical, landscaping, signage, etc.  Fundraising continues. We have raised approximately $150,000 to date through direct donations, brick sales, and grants.  Our goal is to build the monument in 2027.  We have a continuing need to raise money to pay for materials and services that we do not find partners to donate in-kind.
